Hello!

My name is Kelsey Phelan, and I am a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) currently working as the MRI Coordinator at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I’ve been an MRT for 13 years, and I’m passionate about advancing the profession while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.

I began my career at The Moncton Hospital in New Brunswick, working in radiography and CT, before expanding into magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) through the second discipline program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. In May 2024, I was proud to step into a leadership role as MRI Coordinator at QEH, where I supervise staff, optimize workflows, and collaborate with physicians to support timely, accurate imaging services.

I’m actively involved in the professional community as a member of:

  • The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)

  • CAMRT–Atlantic Advisory Council

  • The College of Allied Health Professionals of PEI (CAHPPEI)

I’m currently enrolled in the Master of Health Studies – Leadership stream at Athabasca University, with just two courses remaining and a goal to graduate in 2026. This program has strengthened my commitment to evidence-informed practice, health equity, and inclusive leadership within diagnostic imaging.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and our child, exploring the outdoors, baking, and listening to true crime podcasts (when time allows!). I also volunteer with Special Olympics PEI, an experience that brings me joy and reminds me of the power of inclusive participation in health and wellness.

As an English-speaking, cisgender, heterosexual woman raised in rural PEI, I recognize that I hold privileges such as being able-bodied and having reliable access to education, employment, and healthcare. This awareness motivates me to lead with equity in mind and continuously reflect on how I can help foster more inclusive systems of care.

Thanks for visiting my ePortfolio. I look forward to continued learning, leadership, and growth in the field of medical imaging and beyond!
